Please excuse cross-posting of this announcement.

OHIONET is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Network
Education Exchange, a cooperative program of the education services of
the members of the Alliance of Library Services Networks. OHIONET joins
Amigos, BCR, FEDLINK, INCOLSA, MLC, MLNC, NEBASE, NELINET, Nylink,
PALINET, and SOLINET in this exciting new venture.

The program's purpose is to provide the members of each network with
expanded opportunities to develop skills and knowledge via online
training, and to provide more cost-effective services by leveraging the
time and resources of network staff. The Network Education Exchange
offers library and technology-related programming on a wide variety of
topics ranging from new technologies to MARC basics and emerging
metadata topics.
Through the NEE, all members will have access to high quality distance
learning programs.

The networks have agreed to provide member pricing to one another's
members. Students are expected to register directly with the host
network and are required to pay by credit card. The courses and
descriptions are available on the web sites of the participating
networks. Visitors to the OHIONET Training Calendar
<http://http://www.ohionet.org/training_calendar.php> can quickly
identify online courses by the NEE symbol. New courses will be added to
the Calendar on an ongoing basis.

Initial online sessions include:

*	Weeding Your Library
*	Yahoo! Tips and Tricks: How to Search Yahoo! More Effectively
*	AACR, RDA, and FRBR: An Update
*	Introduction to Basic Reference
*	Using PDAs in Libraries
*	Putting Information Literacy Tutorials Online
*	Emerging Metadata Topics

If you decide to register for a course offered by one of OHIONET's
partners, you should:

*	Identify eligible courses by the Network Education Exchange
designation in the course calendar and descriptions on the participating
networks' websites.
*	Register directly with the host network and pay by credit card.
The course links on the OHIONET Training Calendar will take you from the
OHIONET website to the website of the host network.
*	Review the registration and attendance policies and technical
requirements of the host network, as they may differ from those of
OHIONET.

We encourage you to take advantage of NEE online training and to let us
know what you think. All feedback is welcome. Please send questions or
comments to Carol Verny at cverny at ohionet.org or at 614-486-2966, x33.
