Description
Join us for an update of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton
County's (PLCH) Veteran's History Project and Preview of Ken Burn's
latest documentary, /THE WAR/.
In 2006, Patricia Van Skaik, Manager of the Genealogy and Local History
Department, made a presentation to SWON Libraries on their library's
upcoming partnership with the Library of Congress on the Veterans
History Project. In a little over a year, PLCH has conducted nearly 200
interviews. Veteran's biographical information, photographs and videos
have been posted on a www2 website,
http://www2.cincinnatilibrary.org/vets/.
Of special interest this fall is the Veterans History Project's
connection to /THE WAR/, directed and produced by Ken Burns and Lynn
Novick. This seven-part series tells the story of World War II through
the personal accounts of men and women from four quintessentially
American towns. Through a partnership with CET, PLCH will present a
45-minute preview screening to SWON Libraries members.
