PMP, is the owner of Three Houses Consulting LLC, Trumbull, Connecticut.
The company specializes in project front-end loading and the human
factors that influence business results. Ms. Rocque received her MLS
from Syracuse University and her BA from the University of Connecticut,
and holds PMP certification from the Project Management Institute and
facilitation certification (FAST Session Leader) by MG Rush Systems, Inc.
Ms. Rocque's work experience has crossed multiple disciplines, including
information management, human resources, and information technology.
After working in academic and public libraries, she joined Texaco in
1979 to create a state-of-the-art business library and to link the
company's U.S. information centers. Considered a benchmark operation at
the time, the Texaco Corporate Library/Network established a model for
much of Ms. Rocque's later work at Texaco --- managing visible
programs/projects requiring collaboration with diverse stakeholders to
realize objectives. Additional highlights of her Texaco career included
serving on the small, elite Proxy War Team that defeated Carl Icahn's
attempt to take over Texaco; establishing a nationwide training
curriculum for support staff in all departments/disciplines; and working
closely with HR executives to create a speed of change in HR that was
documented to be twice that of Texaco's other two business units and
outside companies. While serving in Texaco's IT project office, she
coached project sponsors, managers, and teams; integrated
learning/decision tools and job aids into the IT project life cycle; and
assisted the IT executive/management team to regroup following four
major reorganizations.
When she first founded her company, Ms. Rocque worked as a contract
consultant for two years with IPA, Inc., a leading project assessment
and benchmarking firm, where she assessed the degree of front-end
loading in multimillion-dollar IT projects. More recently, teaching,
speaking, and writing have afforded Ms. Rocque the opportunity to share
lessons about project success/failure and human change learned during 30
years of work experience. Currently, she is an adjunct faculty member at
Syracuse University, where she teaches a new course called Human Aspects
of Project Management during the Regnier Summer Institute on Leadership
and Change in an Information Society.
Description
The purpose of a project is to change things. But studies show that
projects aren't always completed as planned. Statistically, they hit
their metrics less than 50 percent of the time. And, too often, project
teams produce products that their target customers don't fully embrace.
Human factors play a large role in project success or failure. Two
important differentiators are the level of (1) clarity and (2)
involvement by key stakeholders.
This Click U Live! Seminar will examine the Project Profile, an
indispensable tool for enabling better project definition while
involving those who have a key stake. A Project Profile defines key
aspects of the project in brief terms. Preparing a Project Profile is an
important step in good project front-end loading (FEL), an approach
statistically correlated with project success that is gaining wider use.
In this Webinar, we will use a template and examples to discuss these
questions:
* What are the components of a typical Project Profile?
* Why would I want to use one?
* Who needs to be involved in formulating it?
* When should it be introduced?
* How it can be structured and used as the project's
documentation/communication hub?
Please join us as we explore the anatomy of a well-structured Project
Profile, its wide array of uses, and its immense practical value.
*Critical Learning Questions*
* Which types of information should a Project Profile contain---and how
much information?
* How do the pieces of information in a Project Profile connect to
project FEL and ultimately, better project results?
* What types of changes need to occur in the Project Profile's content
as the project evolves?
* How do I format the document and its language to increase readability
and give a solid business impression?
* What steps are important in introducing the use of a Project Profile
in a work group or organization?
Meal
Light snacks will be provided
