*Sheila Freyhof* is the Training Instructor and the Volunteer Services 
Coordinator for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. 
Sheila has worked as a Reference Librarian at the Green Township Branch 
and a Children's Librarian at the Mariemont Branch, where she served for 
six years. Sheila has been the Training Instructor in Human Resources 
for the past seven years. This new career path has given her an 
opportunity to design and implement over 35 different programs for the 
library not including those with outside presenters.


      Description

This class will convey the importance of excellent customer service to 
the Library's mission and will emphasize how good working relations with 
coworkers directly impact service to our customers. Attendees will learn 
listening techniques, open-ended questioning, and paraphrasing or 
restating to determine an information need. Attendees will also learn 
how to use positive responses to set the tone of a conversation and 
create a pleasant image, plus how to conduct follow-up conversations to 
make sure the customer is satisfied. Telephone skills and E-mail 
etiquette will also be topics of this training.
