Programming for a Tough Audience...Adults
Date: Thursday, February 28th
Time: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Place: Boyd County Public Library, Ashland, KY
Libraries can successfully create programs with adult appeal!
Children's programming has been a mainstay service for public libraries
for decades. Teen programming has come into its own, especially in the
last decade. But one of the most elusive audiences to attract when it
comes to programming is adults. Public libraries in Kentucky are
focusing their attention on improving their adult programming now.
Now you will have a chance to share what works and what
doesn't work in adult programming with "Programming for a Tough
Audience...Adults." The discussion will focus on the specifics of
programming for adults. Participants will discuss creating programs
with adult appeal, scheduling them, and specific examples of adult
programs. Each participant will be asked to share an idea for a
program, presenter, craft, etc. This can be a description of a series
of programs, demonstration of a craft, the conduct of a book club, or
other creative activity. This is the perfect opportunity to discover
what other libraries have done to create programs that bring adults to
the library.
The program will be on Thursday, February 28th at the Boyd County Public
Library in Ashland, KY from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As the ideas shared in each location will be different,
participants may receive credit for attending both.
