Charlottte Blake Alston is a Philadelphia-based storyteller, narrator
and singer whose interest in literature, the oral tradition and the arts
began in childhood when her father read to her the works of writers and
poets. After 21 years of teaching from the preschool through graduate
levels, Charlotte chose to devote more time to touring and performing.
Ms. Alston was recently honored as the recipient of the prestigious 2006
Circle of Excellence Award from the National Storytelling Network.

Reading, Writing, Speaking & Telling: Suggestions for Incorporating
Storytelling Into Your Curriculum explores ways teachers can make use of
storytelling to stimulate ideas for writing, bringing history alive,
enhancing auditory stills or expanding children's appreciation for oral
telling. This workshop is from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Saturday,
January 20, 2007. Cost per person is $15. To register, contact Babette
Wofter at 740-349-5503 or bwofter at newarklibrary.info.

Learning A Story & Making It Your Own condenses Charlotte's own process
for learning a new story, adapting it to her voice and storytelling
style, and to its intended audience. This workshop is from 1:00 pm to
2:30 pm. on Saturday, January 20, 2007. Cost per person is $15. To
register, contact Babette Wofter at 740-349-5503 or
