Professor *LisaMarie Luccioni
<http://asweb.artsci.uc.edu/communication/faculty/facDetails.cfm?username=luccionil>*
(The University of Cincinnati's "Miss Manners") has been on faculty at
the University of Cincinnati's College of Arts & Sciences for seventeen
years, where she instructs students on image and professionalism in the
Department of Communication, the College of Business, and the College of
Law. LisaMarie also shares an affiliation with UC's Executive Education
program, where she teaches etiquette and image courses to corporate
leaders and executives. In addition to her teaching duties, LisaMarie is
a certified image consultant through the Association of Image
Consultants International <http://www.aici.org/> (AICI), and has earned
the distinction of being the only CIP (certified image professional) in
the state of Ohio. She is a published author, and has been featured in
print, radio, and on television.
For those curious souls who wonder what prompted LisaMarie's interest in
the subject of etiquette, the answer would be found during her
three-month political internship in Washington, D.C. She attended a
high-profile political gala and was seated with some of Washington's
powerbrokers. If only she could have focused on networking; instead she
spent the entire evening wondering which fork to use! She returned to
the University of Cincinnati with the firm resolve to create a
comprehensive etiquette and image program that would allow others to
feel at ease in similar future situations. Her sincere and genuine
objective is to facilitate a sense of mastery and comfort in one's
professional life while refining and reinforcing an image that reflects
their personal best.
Description
Every professional working day, we encounter situations that demand
effective communication. We interact one-on-one with our supervisor. We
represent our thoughts to others. We listen to customers and patrons who
communicate their thoughts to us. We collaborate with others to achieve
consensus and finish tasks. In this interactive and activity-based
session, we'll discover where to use a paraphrase, when to issue a
perception check, the difference between descriptive and evaluative
language, and /the most/ powerful communication principle in existence
today.
Meal
Light snacks will be served.
Audience
This class is open to all library staff wishing to improve their
communication and interpersonal skills.
