OHIONET is pleased to offer a "Basics of Acquisitions" workshop on July
16. This workshop will cover the basics of acquiring library materials.
Because the specifics of acquisitions are dependent on individual
library systems and policy, we will focus on issues in acquisitions.
Topics include definitions and principles, budgeting and accounting,
order processing, record selection, vendor selection, and automating
processes. Please note that this workshop will not offer hands-on
training with any integrated library system, but will focus on general
principles of acquisitions. Please bring your questions. This workshop
is designed for librarians and library staff new to acquisitions or who
would like to learn more about theory and practice of acquiring
materials for libraries.
