Piqua is located in northern Miami County (approximately 30 milnutes 
north of Dayton).  Our library is planning a move in the fall of 2008 
and we are looking for an energetic
INFORMATION AND RESEARCH COORDINATOR

Pay Grade:  $12.10 an hour (2007 base).  Benefit package available.
Hours:  Forty hours per week (2080 hours a year), may include evenings 
and/or weekend hours.
Job Mission: To supervise, direct and maintain the I & R Department, to 
provide reference and other types of assistance to patrons.
Job Requirements: 
1. Bachelor's Degree, MLS desirable
2. Experience in supervising, scheduling and training library staff
3. Experience in working with direct public reference
4. Ability to do advanced public library print material research
5. Ability to do advanced electronic reference research
6. Ability to do basic computer software upgrades and maintenance
7. Ability to provide a positive, friendly and professional image to 
patrons and staff
8. Ability to work and plan with a management team
9. Physical ability to move in and around book stacks and computers and 
to move materials and/or equipment weighing up to twenty pounds
10. Ability to work scheduled hours or irregular hours to cover desk as 
needed

Job Description:
1. Maintain, supervise and schedule staff for the public reference desks
2. Train new staff and provide continuing education for current staff
3. Maintain and manage periodical and reference collections, both print 
and electronic
4. Supervise and provide direct patron reference support
5. Maintain all departmental and library reports and files as needed
6. Maintain and manage interlibrary loan program
7. Maintain and manage departmental equipment
8. Maintain and manage departmental computer equipment, software and 
electronic data collections
9. Coordinate the use of library's public display spaces and bulletin boards
10. Coordinate programs with local schools
11.  Work with the Adult Collection Development and Electronic 
Collections Committees
12. Supervise and maintain appropriate patron behavior on designated 
floors and spaces
13. Maintain and manage the patron material reserves and requests program
14. Assist and supervise with the library mail as needed, the opening 
and closing of the library, circulation and local history assistance as 
needed
15. Work with the management team in general library development, 
organization, operation and planning
16. Perform other tasks or committee assignments as directed
