POSITION AVAILABLE – CIRCULATION DESK(PART-TIME) POSITION:CIRCULATION DESK CLERK IANTICIPATED HOURS:

Every Wednesday evening 5pm-9pmAlternating Saturdays 5pm-9pmAvailable to work for other staff to cover vacations or illnessesWork hours are subject to change by SupervisorSunday hours are a possibility in the futureResponsibilities:Performs Circulation Desk functions using an automated circulationsystem with customer service-related duties.Required:High School Graduate or GED EquivalentAbility to learn automated circulation system, librarypolicies and procedures.Basic typing/computer skills.Ability to establish good patron rapport.Ability to create friendly & pleasant first impression of library.Flexibility to deal with multiple and extra unexpected tasks andpatrons simultaneously.Ability to follow written and oral instructions.Ability to maintain confidentiality of patron records.Ability to work with money, make change, etc.Ability to make sound judgments/decisions.Duties:Performs all circulation desk duties using computerized systemCheck materials in/out/renew materialsReserve materialsCollects fines and tallies dailyIssues new patron cards/updates cardsPerforms all opening/closing procedures in work area/public areasTurn on/off all computers/copiers/printersEmpty book dropsTurn on/off lights, heating controlsAnswers telephones and routes calls, as necessaryNotifies patrons of reserved materials/holdsPerforms basic reference work when Reference Librarian is not availableWill be required to be charge of library building on Saturday evening shift Other duties as assigned.Pay:$6.85 per hour with 60 day probation periodDeadline to Apply: November 2, 2007
