Apologies for cross-posting
There is still time to register for a free information session on the
OCLC WorldCat Registry, to be held at the OHIONET offices in Columbus,
OH. The WorldCat Registry is a centralized, free, web-based directory of
information about libraries and library consortia. The Registry features
the metadata about the institution: its identity, electronic services,
relationships, staff contacts and other pertinent data that inform the
processes and systems driving your library enterprise. The session will
provide a closer look at how to create or update Registry profiles, as
well as share a profile with vendors and partners. Libraries that
register a profile also realize another key benefit: their online
services get greater visibility in places they normally would not. The
WorldCat Registry syndicates essential data - such as your web catalog's
URLs or your OpenURL resolver - across other websites. We will discuss
existing linking for services such as WorldCat.org, WorldCat Local,
ERIC.gov, OCLC Resource Sharing, and others. For more information prior
to the session, check out the WorldCat Registry main page at
http://worldcat.org/registry/institutions.
Joanna White from OCLC will provide an overview of the Registry service
and will be available for questions. The Registry service is free. There
is no cost to attend the session. Information on registration is
available at: http://www.ohionet.org/training_desc.php?ID=529
