[OPLINLIST] life imitating fiction

Yahoo news is talking about an autistic hiker who was lost and is now
reunited with his family in West Virginia.

 

I think I read a romance novel about a mother with a boy who did not
speak or spoke very little.  The dramatic conclusion was that the boy
got lost and the mother's fireman boyfriend helped find him.

 

Can anyone help me recall the name of this book and the author?
