Job Posting: Scanning Technician, Ohio Historical Society (Columbus, Ohio)

 

The Ohio Historical Society, located in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Scanning Technician for a digital library program. Essential duties and responsibilities include: 

*	Scan and photograph photographs, documents and artifacts based on established specifications and standards. 
*	Edit digital images using Adobe Photoshop. 
*	Manage paper and electronic files associated with digitization process. 
*	Create metadata describing digital images. 
*	Create and maintain back up copies of images according to established standards. 
*	Other duties as assigned. 

Candidates should have an associate's degree in history, library or information science or a related discipline or equivalent related experience, plus one to three years experience with digitization projects. Equally important are strong communication skills, organizational ability and willingness to embrace innovation and change. Experience and a solid understanding of digitization and/or microfilm conversion projects; metadata standards; and principles governing standards in digital libraries required.
