Announcing a fantastic opportunity for teachers and librarians from the
Kent State School of Library & Information Science!

Dr. Greg Byerly and Dr. Carolyn Brodie from the School of Library and
Information Science have recently been awarded a $622,816 grant from
IMLS, called Crossing Boundaries, Bridging the Gap: Connecting Museums,
Schools, and Libraries.

The project will focus on teacher-librarian collaboration that is
designed to help teachers and school library media specialists become
aware of the resources and services available from local museums and
other historical agencies, as well as resources available from museums
around Ohio and the nation.

Participants will receive 1-hour of graduate credit from the Kent State
School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) after attending a
one-day workshop and completing required online assignments by May 5th,
2008. The workshop is for both teachers and librarians. The hour of
graduate credit is FREE!

Each librarian may bring up to three teachers per district. Recruit
your teachers for this exciting opportunity to participate in one of
these IMLS-sponsored workshops and receive one-hour of graduate credit
for free. It is not necessary for librarians and teachers to come as
teams to these workshops, but registration preference will be given to
groups which include at least one librarian and teacher.

Each of the following workshops will be a 1-hour graduate credit
workshop (free!) with one required on-site workshop day and
post-workshop activities. No audits will be permitted. These workshops
will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis and have a maximum
registration of 30 per location! This is a repeat of the workshop held
in Spring 2007. University policy does not allow students to receive
credit for the same course already taken. If you would like to apply for
one of the workshops, please send the following information for your
district (one email per partnership team) to Michelle Baldini
mbaldini at kent.edu

1) The Workshop Location and Date you are interested in

2) Your full name

5) School District

6) School Building

7) School email addresses for both you and your partner

8) School Phone numbers for both you and your partner
