[OPLINLIST] Laura Solomon Joins OPLIN!

COLUMBUS, OH---February 14, 2008---The Ohio Public Library Information 
Network (OPLIN) announced today that Laura Solomon has joined OPLIN's 
full time staff and will be serving as the Library Services Manager.

Laura is an accomplished public speaker, trainer, and web developer who 
brings over 10 years of library technology experience to the OPLIN 
team.  She possesses a Master of Library Science from Kent State 
University as well as several relevant professional certifications.

Before joining OPLIN, Laura worked as the Web Applications Manager for 
the Cleveland Public Library.  While in this position, Laura built and 
maintained public and internal websites with open source technologies, 
and was responsible for maintaining access to remote research databases 
using EZProxy.  In addition, Laura was in charge of managing the 
purchase and implementation of consortium-wide research databases, and 
helped oversee the operations of the statewide virtual reference 
service, KnowItNow.

Prior to her time at CPL, Laura held the position of Webmaster from 
1999-2006, and Children's Librarian from 1998-1999, both at the 
Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library.  In addition to her 
library background, Laura continues to work as a Freelance Web Developer 
and Designer.

In Laura's new role as Library Services Manager, she will develop and 
manage OPLIN's non-network services, while serving as the team leader 
for database services.  She will also be responsible for promoting 
OPLIN's services to state government, public libraries, and Ohio 
communities.

Laura's passion for libraries and technology is evident, and her ability 
to merge the two is inspiring---she is an exciting addition to the OPLIN 
team.
