Discover Your Roots

Genealogy and Local History: Developing Self-Directed Guides and
Staff/Patron Tutorials in Small and Medium Public Libraries

Does your small or medium library have limited staff time to devote to
assisting patrons interested in genealogy and local history? This
workshop will help you determine what information to include on your
website and how to develop self-service guides to local resources and
unique collections in Ohio.

Helping patrons connect to the past through family histories and through
the histories and traditions of communities is one of the many roles of
public libraries in Ohio. The Public Library Association also
recognizes this role as one of the 18 most common public library
services. Don't miss this opportunity to learn how to create the tools
to make the search process easier for patrons and to help library staff
gain knowledge about local resources.
