[OPLINLIST] New Sites for Kent State's MLIS12-12-12 Distance Learning Degree Program

The Kent State University School of Library and Information Science
(SLIS) is beginning a new two-year cycle of its 12-12-12 Distance
Learning Degree program starting Fall 2008 at
The Franklin Public Library in Franklin
Lorain County Community College (LCCC) in Elyria
Southeastern Regional Library System (SERLS) in Wellston
This program allows students to take courses through interactive video
and complete an MLIS degree in 2-3 years. There are no residence
requirements and all necessary coursework can be completed without
taking courses in Kent or Columbus.
To introduce these new sites and to answer questions from potential
students, the School is presenting three Open Houses. Come to one of
these Open Houses to learn about the program. Representatives from the
School of Library and Information Science will provide an overview of
the program and answer questions.
OPEN HOUSES
The Franklin Public Library - Mary Hankinson Room, Thursday, March 20 @
6:00pm, 44 E. 4th St., Franklin, OH 45005.
Lorain County Community College (LCCC) - University Center Building -
Tuesday, March 11 @ 6:00 p.m. in Room UC-122, 1005 Abbe Rd North,
Elyria, OH 44035
Southeast Regional Library System (SERLS) - A representative from the
School of Library and Information Science will be available at the OLC
Southeast Chapter Conference at the Ohio University Inn in Athens, Ohio
on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 8:45am - 4:00pm. Please visit the SLIS
table located in the Ballroom to hear more about the program and ask any
questions. Application packets will be available.
Registration is not required, but it would be appreciated if you would
notify us if you plan on attending so that we can arrange facilities and
prepare handouts, etc. Please send an email to Mary Paschen, 12-12-12
Administrative Clerk, at mpaschen at kent.edu <mailto:mpaschen at kent.edu> ,
indicating that you plan on attending. She can also answer questions
about the program and will provide directions to the sites, if needed.
The second year of the two-year cycle started last year in Cincinnati,
Athens, and Elyria, will continue next year and conclude in Spring 2009.
