Intent” workshop for SWON Libraries in December of 2007.
Description
Are you passing through your library without stopping to look around?
**Your customers make choices based on their physical environment
constantly.
Have you uncovered your library’s full image potential?
**People do “judge a book by its cover” and the quality of service being
offered.
Based on her published article in Marketing Library Services (May/June
2007), Julia will begin the session with “the end in mind” based on
resources and the library customer. Second, the workshop with cover
visual design basics and environmental considerations to further
illustrate the importance of branding your library. Concepts, terms, and
examples will accompany the discussion, and planning techniques are
designed for you to take back to your library.
Participants are then invited to accompany Julia for a library
“walk-through” to apply merchandising/marketing principles, options and
solutions.
The program is designed in four parts:
1) Marketing your Image: Consider your Library’s Environment
2) The Language of Design: Visual Merchandising Basics
3) Getting Organized: Planning Floor Sets and Displays
4) Sensory Perception Audit: Library Walk-through
*This is a practical learning session with the goal of giving you more
“bang for the buck” through planning and utilizing the space you already
have!
