This is a Full-Time, Permanent, Bargaining-Unit, Unclassified position
(may include promotion, transfer or demotion).

Job Duties: Evaluate, establish, monitor, & maintain networking (wired,
wireless) needs of the State Library; maintain network security via
configuration, maintenance, monitoring of agency firewall, VPN
solutions, and Unix based operating systems & applications; analyze,
design, & reconfigure small computer systems (Local Area Network (LAN),
Wide Area Network (WAN), OhioLINK, Unix systems administration (Solaris,
Linux), etc) ; Evaluate, analyze, configure, maintain web based
applications (Apache, HTML, CMS, authentication); Formulate & develops
procedures to create & link automation systems to improve State
Library's information delivery services ( LAN, WAN, web, email, etc.) ;
Evaluate & analyze automation/dataline hardware and software packages to
determine usability with current systems ; Composes system
documentation, specifications, & production procedures ; Calculates
cost, time, supplies, & personnel ; Drafts & submits recommendations for
automation/information technology upgrades & changes. Advises &
communicates directly with library administrators & other staff members
relative to automation/information technology programming
problems/initiatives impacting State Library operations; Communicates
with vendors, other state agency's automation/information technology
personnel relative to automation/information technology programming
issues/problems; composes training materials & manual instructions;
Researches & interprets technical manuals & documents; Instructs &
trains users on new & existing automation procedures & protocols ;
attends seminars, workshops & other training sessions pertinent to
development of the State Library's automation programs.

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of associate degree program as
undergraduate core program in computer science which must have included
at least 2 courses in systems analysis & design & at least one course in
each of following: fourth generation language (e.g., SUPRA, MANTIS,
SAS), high-level computer language (e.g., COBOL), assembler language,
telecommunications programming, computer laboratory involving hands-on
operation of computer hardware & peripheral equipment, computer
programming, structured programming techniques, flowcharting, numerical
analysis & algebra or comparable mathematics; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in
relational database (e.g., DB2, IMS); 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in command
level (e.g., CICS); 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in data & file structures
(e.g., lists, trees, graphs, searching & sorting); 1 course or 3 mos.
exp. in statistics/statistical analysis; 12 mos. additional trg. or 12
mos. additional exp. in writing &/or modifying, testing & debugging full
range of computer programs using high-level & assembler languages &/or
in system analysis & design
