BLUFFTON AUTHOR RELEASES BOOK BASED ON HALO VIDEO GAME

 

            At 6 p.m. on November 25, Bluffton's science fiction author
Tobias S. Buckell will be visiting the Bluffton Public Library in
celebration of the official launch of his fourth novel Halo: The Cole
Protocol.  Buckell has recently become well-known in the science fiction
world, writing numerous award winning short stories and books within the
past few years; well known enough that Microsoft and Tor Books have taken
notice, and commissioned him to write the newest book in a New York Times
Best-Selling series based on their video game franchise: Halo.  

            The Halo trilogy of games, the first of which released in 2001,
has enabled Microsoft to become a contender among Sony and Nintendo with
their X-BOX gaming console. The games are based on a science fiction story
line that drops the player in a fierce battle between humans and an alliance
of alien races.  The games have attracted hordes of fans as a result of the
action-packed gameplay, and have kept them interested with addictive
multi-player contests that allow you to play with other people all over the
world.  "I've been a fan of Buckell's since Crystal Rain, and when I found
out he was playing Halo, I was chomping at the bit to get him to try his
hand at a Halo novel." says Tor Editor Eric Raab. "The Cole Protocol is
awesome stuff that expands the Halo universe in some really amazing ways." 

            With an official release date of November 25, those present will
be able to get their hands on the first available copies of the book.
Buckell will talk about the new Halo book, as well as his recently released
Sly Mongoose, the latest in his own sci-fi series.  Copies of both books
will be available for purchase at the library, and Tobias will be available
