[OPLINLIST] KnowItNow24x7 Seeking Volunteers to Answer Email

KnowItNow24x7 (KIN24x7) is looking for volunteer librarians to join the statewide network to respond to email questions from patrons. The emails will be both sent directly from patrons as well as generated from messages left by those who decide not to wait in the KIN24x7 live queues, for whatever reason. This will also allow another access point for Ohio residents, including those who are visually-impaired, wishing to access the statewide online reference service.
Each librarian will be assigned a shift to monitor the messages and respond to patrons within 24 hours. Specific guidelines on formatting responses and maintaining the email account will be provided.
Interested librarians must have:
- Extensive reference experience
- Excellent writing ability
- Knowledge of online sources (both web sites and subscription databases)
- Permission from supervisor to accomplish KIN24x7 tasks as part of regular duties
