[OPLINLIST] counting people

We've had limited success with electronic people counters we've had at our doors (breakdowns, inaccurate counts, user error), and wonder how different libraries count their patrons. Do you have electronic counters (which kind?), or do you have people use hand-held clickers a couple times a year and then average? Do you use a statistic to tell you how often people use your library or ...?
