Description
The regional library systems are again collaborating in a statewide
videoconference. This time we are focusing on readers' advisory.
*What's on Your Playlist?: Making the Most of Listener's Advisory*
presented by Jenny Greene, Leslie Mallon, and Teanna Gildersleeve all of
Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library
What do a Librarian, a Technical Services Assistant, and an
Administrative Assistant all have in common? A love of music. Indeed,
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said it best when he stated, "Music is the
universal language of mankind." This lively program is presented from
the perspective of music lovers and will introduce Music Advisory as a
way to expose customers (and ourselves) to new music. Participants will
learn new ways to search (using iTunes, Pandora, etc.) for digital music
online and develop Music Advisory services at their libraries.
*Cool Crime and Hot Romance Readers Advisory* presented by "Bloody" Mary
Boone, PR Coordinator & Kristin "the Romance Specialist" Wetzel,
Librarian's Assitant, Wood County District Public Library.
*Urban Fiction: Not Just for Urban Libraries* presented by Jessica
Powell, Adult Services Librarian, Campbell County Public Library
What is Urban Fiction? Hip-Hop on the page? The Street Life in prose?
This session will give an introduction to this burgeoning genre by
discussing trends, hot authors, and possible controversy. Does your
collection have a home for thee tales of the city?
Meal
Snacks will be provided.
