Westlake Porter Public Library's third biennial Westfest author series
kicks off this evening with Teen fantasy author Cinda Williams Chima.
Chima is the author of the bestselling "The Heir" series, "The Heir,"
"The Warrior Heir," "The Wizard Heir,' and "The Dragon Heir." Her
latest novel, "The Demon King," was scheduled to be released today.
Chima will talk about her work and present a teen writing workshop at
the library starting at 7 p.m.
Also appearing are bestselling mystery/suspense author Tess Gerritsen
and children's chapter book author Cynthia Lord. Gerritsen has won both
the Nero Wolfe Award and the Rita Award. More than 20 million copies of
her books have been sold. Gerritsen will speak about her journey from
physician to bestselling author on Friday, October 16 at 7 p.m. (Doors
open at 6:30 p.m.)
Cynthia Lord is the author of the 2007 Newbery Honor Award-winning
"Rules," which explores what it's like to have a sibling with autism.
"Rules" also received the Buckeye Book Award. Lord will speak at the
library on Wednesday, October 21 at 7 p.m.
Westfest is generously underwritten by the Friends of Porter Public
Library. All events are free, and books will be available for purchase
and signing courtesy of Barnes and Noble.
