FYI-IMLS funding update from ALA.

Yesterday the United States Senate's Health, Education, Labor and
Pensions (HELP) Committee reported from committee with unanimous
consent, Senate Bill 3984, the Museum and Library Services Act of 2010
to reauthorize the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the
primary source of support by the Federal Government for the 123,000
libraries and 17,500 museums in the United States.

 

The next stop for S.3984 will be to have a vote on the Senate floor.
Please call your two senators at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to support
S.3984 in the lame duck session.  

Also, yesterday in the Senate HELP committee, the nomination of Susan
Hildreth to be the director of IMLS was favorably reported from
committee.  Her nomination now will face the full Senate.  When you call
your senators please also urge them to support Ms. Hildreth's nomination
in this lame duck session.
