Hello All,
For those of you interested in distance running and anthropology, which I
know to be a large portion of the population : ).
Friday, June 18th at 5pm
The Loudonville Public Library is proud to host Micah True, also known as
"Caballo Blanco", a central figure in the best-selling book Born to Run by
Christopher McDougall. Micah has spent many years living, working, and
running with the Tarahumara people of the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.
The Tarahumara are world-renowned for their long-distance running ability.
Micah is in the Loudonville area for the Mohican 100/50 Mile Run which will
take place Saturday, June 19th.
Micah will be discussing how he ended up living with the Tarahumara, his
experience in organizing ultramarathons in the Copper Canyon of Mexico, and
the work he is currently doing to benefit the Tarahumara and the Copper
Canyon region.
The hour-long presentation will take place Friday, June 18th at 5pm in the
lower level of the library with a Q&A session to follow. Registration is
not required. The presentation will benefit Norawas de Raramuri, a
non-profit organization devoted to helping the Tarahumara people. Donations
can be made after the presentation.
