[OPLINLIST] Back-issues of National Geographic & American Heritage

We have back-issues of National Geographic magazine going back to the 1930's
and American Heritage magazine at least back through the 1960's. What have
other small libraries (collections of 100,000 items or smaller) done with
back issues? We are debating as to whether or not to deselect our
back-issues, but then there are issues of how to do so: Would you advise
selling them in the Friends of the Library book sale or online via Ebay.com,
Half.com, Craigslist.com, etc.?

I am well aware of the fact that there is an Oplin database which offers
full-text National Geographic content back to 1995, but what to do with a
collection that is older than that?
