Greetings!

Time is running out for you or a fellow staff member to register for the
following three OHIONET workshops:

*Advanced RDA: The New Cataloging Standard*

Building upon the basic foundations of RDA, it is time to learn how to
catalog using RDA. This workshop will focus on Resource Description and
Access (RDA) the new cataloging standard and successor to AACR. The workshop
will provide attendees with: background and development of RDA; brief
introduction to FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records )
and FRAD (Functional Requirements for Authority Data), the conceptual models
that underpin RDA; RDA implementation; RDA core elements; choices in RDA;
cataloging documentations; and RDA workflow. A special section of the
workshop will be devoted to explaining how catalogers will describe
relationships using RDA. Throughout the workshop, attendees will participate
in practical hands-on-exercises and join in discussion with the instructor
and fellow classmates.

*When:* Tuesday, May 18th, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

*Where:* OHIONET

*Cost:* $80 (members); $120 (non-members)

Please see the following link for the full workshop description and to
register online: http://www.ohionet.org/training-calendar/649

*OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing: Beyond the Basics*

* *

This hands-on workshop builds upon the basics of OCLC Resource Sharing by
providing details on editing ILL policies and deflection, obtaining and
analyzing interlibrary loan data from ILL reports, clear up confusion
regarding IFM (Interlibrary loan fee management) and setting up
patron-initiated ILL in FirstSearch. Please bring scenarios and questions
from your own library, as this helps to spur classroom discussion.

*When:* Thursday, May 20th, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

*Where:* OHIONET

*Cost:* $85 (members); $125 (non-members)

Please see the following link for the full workshop description and to
register online: http://www.ohionet.org/training-calendar/645

*Hands-on Book Repair*

This workshop is designed for general, circulating collections in public and
small academic libraries. The approach will be to teach methods for
repairing books with less damaging techniques, as a building block toward
"archival quality" or "preservation oriented" collection maintenance.
Attendees will learn about the structure of a book, what books should be
sent to the bindery and what books can be repaired at the library.

Each attendee will receive a supply kit (included in the workshop fee) and a
list of supplies to take back to the library.

*When:* Thursday, May 27th, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

*Where:* OHIONET

*Cost:* $150 (members); $180 (non-members)

*NOTE: Registration must close on Thursday, May 13th so that repair kits may
be ordered for the class!*
