[OPLINLIST] Pulitzer Finalist Regina Brett to Visit the Tuscarawas County Public Library System

Pulitzer Prize finalist and Ohio native Regina Brett will be visiting the
Tuscarawas County Public Library System on Thursday, November 18th at 7PM in
the downstairs fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church (201
West High Avenue in New Philadelphia).

 

When Brett turned 50, she wrote a column for the Cleveland Plain Dealer
about the 50 lessons that life had taught her: lessons about being an unwed
mother, lessons about being a single parent for 18 years, and lessons about
coping with breast cancer at the age of 41. Readers loved the column so much
that they began posting it on their refrigerators, carrying it around in
their wallets, and sharing its tenets with their family and friends via
email. It quickly became a phenomenon and, in April of 2010, was published
by Grand Central Publishing as God Never Blinks: 50 Lessons for Life's
Little Detours. It was listed as a New York Times bestseller only a week
after its release.

 

Brett's 24-year professional writing career has earned her numerous honors
and awards, including a spot in the Cleveland Press Club Journalism Hall of
Fame, the National Headliner Award, and, most notably, recognition by the
Pulitzer Board in 2008 and 2009 as a finalist for the Prize in commentary.
She also hosts "The Regina Brett Show," a weekly call-in radio show on WKSU
89.7 FM. 

 

Brett will be available to sign copies of God Never Blinks, which will be
available for a cash-only purchase of $21.99, after the program concludes. 

 

Admission to the event is free. The New Philadelphia Friends of the Library
will be providing refreshments.
