Defending Yourself Against Problem Patrons

 

She hasn't been bothering anyone, but she's been sitting in the same
spot all morning long, mouthing words that you can't hear. She
looks...upset. You see her stand up, and she walks towards you. Her pace
quickens. Her eyes grow wide. She brings her arm back, and her hands are
clenched into fists. What do you do?

Library staff face situations like these inside and outside of the
workplace. How prepared are you to deal with them? Join the State
Library of Ohio as we feature two very special guest speakers who will
guide you through the essentials of personal protection and dealing with
problem patrons.

Forrest Sorenson, Security Manager of the Columbus Metropolitan Library
<http://www.columbuslibrary.org/>  will lead an engaging discussion on
how to deal with problem patrons from 8:30AM - 10:00AM. After a short
break, Bryan McKean, Lead Instructor of Survival Operating Systems
<http://survivaloperatingsystems.com/wordpress/?page_id=5>  will lead
participants in a hands-on demonstration of powerful personal protection
techniques from 10:15AM - 12:30 PM.
