Children's Librarian - Grade 6 (Full-time)


Newark Library, 101 W. Main Street, Newark, OH

 

Under the general supervision of the Head of Children's Services, this
position performs primarily the duties of the children's librarian in a
typical public library environment.  These duties include, but are not
limited to: collection development, story times and other children's
programming; school visits; library tours; assisting the public;
answering reference questions; and, maintenance of the department's
web-page.

 

This is a full-time position - 37.5 hours per week, 75 hours per pay
period.  The successful candidate will be scheduled to work days and/or
evenings, Monday through Saturday, with a daily unpaid meal-break at the
discretion of the Department Head of 30 or 60 minutes.  The successful
candidate, if needed, could be required to work additional hours on
Sundays at the Newark Library.

Pay Rate

The pay for this position starts at $16.9552 / hour - Grade 6, Step A.
The Library's fringe benefit package is also available to the successful
candidate.

 

Probationary Period

The first 6 months in this position are considered probationary in
nature.  The successful applicant's performance will be reviewed at 6
months. If the employee's performance is not satisfactory, the employee
may be terminated.  If in the opinion of the supervisor, it seems the
employee needs more time to show they can perform at the expected level,
the probationary period may be extended for a maximum of three more
months. If the employee's performance is still not satisfactory at the
end of this second probationary period, their employment with the
Library will be terminated.
