Jack -- You might try the Central Ohio Diabetes Association.  They have on staff certified diabetes educators, nurses, dietitians and licensed social workers.  Their committment is to education in this part of the state so they might provide a speakers service:  http://www.diabetesohio.org/tabid/86/Default.aspx

For print resources the American Diabetes Assoc. is, of course, excellent.  For a more local spin you might consider some of the consumer health materials published at The Ohio State University Medical Center.  Below are a couple samples in addition to our consumer health library fact sheet.  We are open to all and send free packets of personalized health information to people upon receipt of a reference query.
