[OPLINLIST] Quick informal survey on carpet alternatives in libraries

Greetings all, 
  
Henderson Memorial Public Library is working on a building renovation which will include new carpeting. The architect suggested we might consider vinyl planks and tiles that give the appearance of hardwood floors and can be heat-sealed. Does anyone have any experience and feedback regarding carpet alternatives?
