I'll second that; I find Paint.net a superb free tool, with a more
accessible learning curve than GIMP.

I've had good luck with Paint.net (sort of a freeware Adobe Photoshop Lite).
It can be downloaded at http://www.getpaint.net/. Tamar Kreke and I did a
presentation on zero-cost tools at OLC Convention and it includes a brief
