[OPLINLIST] Repairing Playaways?

Has anyone had any success with repairing Playaways that patrons say do not 
work.  We've tried the obvious (replacing batteries, smacking it, etc. ;)

We just hate to have to discard them because they are rather expensive.  Any 
tips or suggestions would be appreciated.  You can reply to me directly off 
list.
