[OPLINLIST] ipads vs. Kindle Fire for elementary schools

What do you think is the best option for elementary school children to use for learning, iPads or Kindle Fires? Are there as many education apps on Kindles to allow a classroom teacher to use as on iPads? What about damage to device, extended warranties, overall performance in a classroom? Any information you may have on these or other tablets will be appreciated. Thank you.
