[OPLINLIST] Background checks for volunteers

Hello all,

Thank you again for all of your replies. By request, here are the replies to my background checks question


1)      What company do you use and would you recommend them?



Most libraries used either a local Sheriff, Police Department or local school district. Three other companies that were mentioned are: a local service called ETAT, Buckeye Protection Services  and

Validex.



2)      What level of check do you typically use?



Not all libraries required a background check for volunteers, but the majority of those that did required both a BCI and FBI check. None required a credit check. A few mentioned a special check for employees that drive a library-owned vehicle.



3)      What is the cost of your service?



There was a wide range of costs from $17.50-$90 per check. Most respondents seemed to pay about $35 for a BCI/FBI check.
