[OPLINLIST] Library Foundation Question

Hi Everyone,
I apologize if this has been discussed recently, but we are looking into the benefits and drawbacks of establishing a Library Foundation.  We have a Friends group who are looking into getting a 501 status, but are wondering if it might be easier or more beneficial to establish a Foundation instead.

Any advice, information, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.
