Hurt/Battelle Memorial Library (I think I can reasonably respond to this
topic on their behalf!), similarly to Anne Lowery's comments, also has a
central networked public-use copier with scan-to-file capabilities that
patrons may use. The library only charges for actual prints...regardless of
whether it's a straight-up document copy or a print job from a public
computer, it's the same price. Scanning a document to a file is free. As
Anne said, "not using toner, paper, etc."
Patrons may scan to a central, public file repository which is accessible
from the patron computers. The patrons can then make use of the patron
computer to manipulate the scanned document, save it to USB devices, e-mail
it, print it, whatever they can do with a data file. When they are done,
they can also delete the document from the repository. Any documents left
over auto-delete after a set period of time.
Staff are available to help as needed.
