[OPLINLIST] State Library to use Counting Opinions for Ohio Public Library Data Collection

Beginning with the collection of data for the 2012 Public Library
Survey, the State Library of Ohio (SLO) will be using Counting Opinions
and its LibPAS (Library Performance Assessment) solution.   As the State
Library assumes responsibility for the public library salary survey, the
decision to move to Counting Opinions' LibPAS product was made because
of its enhanced product features, including the ability to easily
capture and report from any number of data sets from the public library
annual survey, OPLIN/OLC data center survey, salary survey, and the
Public Library Data Service (PLDS) survey.  

 

When the 2012 Public Library Survey is released, public libraries should
find that the changeover will be seamless and entering the data will be
similar to previous years.    There will be some noticeable changes,
however, as we seek to incorporate and align questions more effectively
from the three surveys. The first change is the merging of the State
Library's Annual Report and the OPLIN/OLC data center survey.  

 

Webinars will be available to assist public libraries with the changes
in software and content.  Webinars will be conducted by Counting
Opinions' staff to assist librarians in navigating through the LibPAS
product and Lisa Hickle, State Data Coordinator, will be conducting
webinars to assist with content including changes made to the 2012
survey, understanding definitions and answering any questions.
Registration information will be posted by the end of the month.

said State Librarian, Beverly Cain. "The capabilities of the new
software and the ability to combine several surveys will result in
better data.  This data will assist Ohio public librarians make the best
