Executive Director, Ohioana Library Association.  The Ohioana Board of Trustees seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated executive director to administer a state-wide, not-for-profit association, located in Columbus, OH, whose mission is to collect, preserve, and promote the written work of Ohio writers, musicians, and artists. Manages a Library, Awards program, Book Festival, and other Ohioana sponsored programs. Works closely with Board of Trustees, members, legislators, and volunteers. Manages all programmatic, public relations, fundraising, and financial aspects of the Association. Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred or comparable experience. Experience or knowledge of special collection libraries. Excellent written/oral communication, and public relations skills. Experience with budget management. Supervisory experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.  Preferred experience: Familiarity with Ohio, its literary and cultural resources, and state budget process. Ohioana Library Association Position Description

Position Title: Executive Director

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree preferred or comparable experience. Experience or  knowledge of libraries, specifically special collection libraries. Excellent written communication, oral communication, and public relations skills. Experience with developing and managing a budget. Supervisory experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

Preferred Experience
Familiarity with Ohio, specifically literary and cultural resources.  Familiarity with state budget process. Experience with fundraising, grant writing, and marketing in a public or private not-for-profit organization/association.

Position Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Board of Trustees, the Director administers all functions of the Ohioana Library Association.  The Director is responsible for:

1. Ensuring the operating efficiency and financial viability of the Association.

2. Managing through budgetary, development, and legislative processes, the financial resources required by the Association's functions, programs, and services.

3. Implementing the Association's strategic plan.

4. Selecting, evaluating, and managing personnel.

4. Monitoring appropriated funds, and researching proposed major expenditures.

5. Working with volunteers, members, trustees, authors, publishers, and legislators to promote the Association and its programs throughout the State.

6. Communicating effectively with individuals and organizations contributing to and supporting the Association, its awards and activities.

7. Assessing the Association's physical plant and equipment needs to ensure access to resources and implementation of programs and services.

8. Maintaining a strong relationship with the Board of Trustees, its officers, and committees.

Specific Duties
1. Implements policy decisions as established by the Board of Trustees.  Supports the work of the Board's officers and committees. Attends quarterly Board meetings and drafts detailed reports to the Board.

2. Leads the staff in the implementation of Ohioana's strategic plan, translating the goals into specific objectives and priorities.

3. Prepares and justifies budget requests, monitors appropriated funds, researches proposed major expenditures.  Explores outside funding sources, prepares appropriate reports, development plans and grant applications.

4. Communicates with State agencies, including the Office of Budget and Management, and the         Legislative Budget Office, as well as legislators, to establish the needs of the Association and its level of support from the State.

5. Analyzes job tasks, procedures, and programs to make efficient use of personnel resources.

6. Recruits, interviews, selects, and evaluates all employees.

7. Oversees the Association's public relations and publication programs, including business and editorial matters. Maintains excellent communication with members through both electronic and printed means.

8. Plans and coordinates major programs including Ohioana Day, the Awards Program, and the Book Festival.

9. Develops and implements technology plans to improve the quality and efficiency of Association operations and services, including website management, and social media.

10. Explores options for upgrading the Association's facility and equipment.

11.  Participates in conferences, attends relevant cultural events, and stays current in fields pertinent to the interests of the Association

12.  Performs other related duties as required.
