Hello all - Diane Wilmore from the East Cleveland Public Library contacted me at Doug Evans' suggestion regarding the usefulness of the abridged version of DDC in small libraries. I sent her the page at OCLC http://www.oclc.org/dewey/versions/abridged.en.html that has the official information.

However, she described "dewey lite" to me as something that had a more "bookstore" organization system in it. I'm not sure that that is the case, as DDC Abridged still contains numbering. I THINK this is the abridged DDC but maybe there is something else out there?

She asked for names of public libraries in Ohio that are using the abridged DDC and/or some more bookstore-like system for organizing collections. Would someone please forward this message to the OPLIN list with a request that people connect with her at dwilmore at ecpl.lib.oh.us<mailto:dwilmore at ecpl.lib.oh.us>?
