*Please excuse cross-postings.*

For the past few years, OCLC has sponsored a fabulous program that has
helped to raise awareness about the valuable role public libraries play in
their communities and about the funding challenges they face. Supported by
a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Geek the Library
community awareness campaigns have enabled libraries, across 48 states
(including 50 communities in Ohio alone), to develop productive
community-centered conversations that have been proven to increase
engagement.

While the Geek the Library program has been a boon for many public
libraries, other types of institutions were excluded--the parameters of the
supporting grant limited participation to public libraries only. That's
where OHIONET comes in. We are bringing in Karen Austin, program and field
manager for Geek the Library, from OCLC to talk to K12s, academics and
special librarians about how they can take the lessons, and proven tactics,
from Geek the Library and apply them to their own communities, no matter
the population size or user type. Sign up today to join us for...
