Happy Friday!

Here are the results that I've received so far, for the pay period survey:

Bi-weekly (same day of the week every payday) - 42
Bi-monthly (same dates of the month) - 10
Monthly (same date of the month) - 9

There appear to be pros and cons to each method. To sum up the
additional comments I've received...

Bi-weekly - Pros: In general, the favorite of most staff that responded.
Payday is on the same day of the week at regular, frequent, and reliable
intervals. 26 pay periods a year. Except...
                     Cons: Around every 10 years, there's a 27th pay
period, which can be a potential headache for fiscal officers and
directors. There were a few suggestions for dealing with it, including
simply budgeting for an extra pay period.

Bi-monthly - Pros: Payday is nearly the same frequency as bi-weekly.
Eliminates the extra pay period problem. 24 pay periods every year.
Cons: Irregular intervals. Day of the week for
payday can change month to month. Rules must be created for what to do
if payday falls on a day when the library is closed, etc.

Monthly - Pros: In general, the favorite of fiscal officers. Eliminates
the extra pay period problem. 12 pay periods every year.
Cons: Employees wait longer for checks. Irregular
intervals. Day of the week for payday can change month to month. Rules
must be created for what to do if payday falls on a day when the library
is closed, etc.

Have a great weekend!
