Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is looking for a full-time, adult services
librarian.

 

Responsibilities of the Position

.         Provide reference assistance and readers' advisory services,
assist patrons with computers and digital devices, teach public classes,
plan and present programs, lead book discussion groups, create book
displays, and perform collection development duties as assigned

.         Assist patrons in identifying and locating appropriate materials
using electronic, print, and other resources; trains patrons in the use of
resources

.         Actively promote library service, programs and materials to public
and staff

.         Attend training courses and workshops which are applicable to the
job

 

Preferred Qualifications

.         Applicants should be familiar with current professional trends and
practices, a variety of technologies and social media platforms, and
demonstrate a thorough knowledge of print and online resources

.         High comfort level and familiarity with common hardware and
software, including eReaders

.         Self-motivated, organized, efficient, and productive with
excellent time management skills

.         Ability to work independently, accurately, and with attention to
detail

.         Additional skills desired include developing community
relationships, working collaboratively with others, strong interpersonal and
communication skills

.         Retain, follow, and explain organizational procedures, processes,
policies, and operations

.         Able to stand for extended periods of time and lift a minimum of
thirty pounds

.         Knowledge of local history a plus

.         Prior public library experience preferred

 

An MLIS from an ALA accredited school is required. 

 

Starting wage: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour

 

Position available December 1, 2014 due to a retirement. Some weekend and
evening hours required. Position begins with successful completion of a
state and national background check. Must have valid driver's license and be
willing to travel locally as well as attend meetings in the region and
within the state.
