[OPLINLIST] Coming Soon: New LSTA Competitive Grant Opportunities

The State Library is pleased to announce that LSTA Competitive Grants in four categories will be accepted during the next round of funding.  Grants using FFY2015 funds will be directed to support literacy initiatives, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) programs, innovative outreach and partnerships programs, and the creation of strong libraries through the use of data.



It is anticipated that the Request for Proposal (RFP) and application guidelines will be released in early July with proposals due at the State Library in early September.  Funded projects will begin January 1, 2016 and terminate September 30. 2016.



General guidelines for the LSTA Competitive Grant program include:

*        All types of Ohio libraries are eligible to apply for funding.

*        Applicants may request up to $50,000 in federal funds.  A financial cash match of 25% of the total project  cost is required.

*        Project coordinators are required to have an MLS/MLIS or a Library Media Specialist Certification.  Upon approval from the LSTA Office, other educational certifications may be substituted.

*        Partners are not required but are strongly encouraged.  The inclusion of partners will strengthen a proposal.

*        Proposals must include a sustainability plan or strategy to continue, if appropriate, the program after September 30, 2016.  This section must include names of possible future funders and/or where you may seek future funding.



Librarians are encouraged to begin thinking about projects now.  Look for full application information in early July.
