The James Cook Book Award: Celebrating Diversity in Teen Literature was created in 2007 by the Ohio Library Council's Teen Services Division to honor the life of teen librarian James Cook. The award recognizes a book that promotes and celebrates cultural, ethnic, or social diversity. Nominations are now open for the 2017 award and will honor books published for teens in 2015 and 2016. The nomination form can be found here: http://olc.org/wp-content/uploads/documents/option/2016/04/James-Cook-Book-Award-Nomination-Form-2017.pdf

Interested in serving on the 2017 James Cook Book Award Committee? The Teen Services Division Action Council is accepting applications from prospective committee members from now through August 1st. Five to ten public and school librarians will be chosen by the Action Council to serve on the book selection committee. You do not need to be an OLC member to serve on the selection committee. The application can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z6C2TCF

If you have any questions, feel free to email me off list.

Thanks!
