Just a quick reminder that formats for CSLP manuals are changing.  Ohio public libraries will receive the 2017 manual on USB flash drive (one per library outlet in your system) unless you specify otherwise using this survey:

Effective immediately, the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) manual will no longer be shipped from State Library in paper.  The State Library will continue to use LSTA funds to purchase CSLP manuals for Ohio public libraries in any of 3 electronic formats.

If your library wishes to request a specific format for the 2017 CSLP manual, please complete this survey by end of day, Friday, June 24:

As noted in the email below, CSLP manuals will be made available in these formats, starting with the 2017 manual.  Each format includes the children's, early literacy, teen, and adult manuals, and all graphics:
*DVD (PLEASE NOTE: the DVD option is now 1 DVD; contents may be downloaded to multiple computers at each location)
*USB flash drive (contents may be downloaded to multiple computers at each location)
*Online (downloadable by access code to multiple computers at each location).

Ordinarily, the State Library will supply one manual for each library outlet in a system.  All the manuals must be the same format.  For example, if you have a main library, 3 branches, and a bookmobile, you may receive 5 USB flash drives, OR 5 DVDs, OR 5 online access codes.  You may request fewer manuals if you don't need that many.

DVD and USB manuals will be shipped from State Library to libraries in fall 2016.  Online access codes will be distributed to libraries by spring 2017.  If you select the online manual, you will receive the CSLP/Upstart catalog in the fall, and will receive the access code(s) when ready.

If your library wishes to request a specific format, please complete the survey at the link above, no later than end of day, Friday, June 24.
Libraries that don't respond to the survey will receive the USB format.
Libraries with multiple locations: Please complete the survey once on behalf of the system.
You may purchase additional manuals in any format, INCLUDING PAPER, from the Upstart/CSLP catalog which will be delivered with the manuals.  Thank you for reading.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

The Collaborative Summer Library Program will introduce new formats for its annual summer program manual, beginning with the 2017 manual which will ship in fall 2016.  CSLP anticipates making the manual available in these formats:
* USB flash drive
* DVD
* Online as a downloadable PDF

The paper manual will be printed in smaller quantities and made available for purchase through the CSLP/Upstart product catalog.

Historically, CSLP manuals are provided to Ohio public libraries at no cost to the libraries. This service has been supported in whole by Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA funds granted through the State Library of Ohio.

The State Library will continue to use LSTA funds to purchase one manual for each library building/branch in Ohio (except for library systems that have requested fewer manuals because of centralized SRP planning or because they don't use CSLP themes).

Each library system may choose among USB, DVD, and online formats.  Please, only one format per system; you will have the option to purchase additional manuals in any format, including paper, from the CSLP/Upstart catalog.  To get your preferences, I will post a survey to OPLINlist, Library Youth Services, and Small Libraries lists when CSLP has finalized some details about the new formats, probably by mid-June.  There may be a short turnaround time on this survey, so please keep an eye out for it.  Libraries that don't respond to the survey will receive the USB format.

If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

There have been many requests for alternate manual formats, particularly online, so I hope this comes as welcome news to all.  Remember, you will be able to purchase paper manuals if you need them!
