[OPLINLIST] Circulating MiFi devices

John and Peter,

FWIW, while we don’t circulate MiFi devices at this time, we explored some information from vendors. T-Mobile offers that if you purchase static IPs for your MiFis (a small monthly fee), they will allow you to configure the MiFis to point to OpenDNS, or even place the MiFis behind your internal network filtering solution, if desired. I believe Verizon offers the same configuration options. Other libraries who have used this service could share more – I’d love to hear, also.

John,

This is not for the faint of heart. You will need to get all the departments involved on the same page. Here's how we do it.

There is not really an option for filtering these devices. If you think there is one we would be interested in hearing about it.

Hi Folks--

We're thinking about circulating MiFi devices to our patrons, and I have a question for those of you who already circulate them. Do you filter these devices for pornography? If so, are you using OpenDNS or some other method?

TIA
