[OPLINLIST] Using Online Health Information: Register for March 9 workshop

Registration is now open for a special workshop on Using Online Health Information.  This workshop is specifically designed for public librarians.

Come join Abigail Jones, MLIS, MA, Consumer Health Librarian at The Ohio State University Health Sciences Library, as she assists public librarians in navigating, understanding and using online health information resources. This half-day, hands-on workshop will define the core competencies of providing consumer health information service. Participants will examine issues of literacy, health literacy, and the health information needs of special populations.  We will explore free, authoritative National Library of Medicine resources and tools that you can depend on in answering health-related questions in your library.  Participants will leave feeling more knowledge about the resources available for consumer health information and more confident in assisting patrons in using these resources.

Date:  March 9, 2017
Time:  9:30 - 12:00.  Registration and light refreshments begin at 9:00.
Location:  State Library of Ohio<https://library.ohio.gov/about/contact-us/#GetDirections> Training Room.  We will be sharing computers in the lab, participants may wish to bring their own laptop.

This workshop is made possible through support provided by an Outreach grant through the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) Greater Midwest Region (GMR), The State Library of Ohio and endowments supporting the Library for Health Information at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
